Silver Jubilee Convention Photos and Slide Show
Covering an event like Silver Jubilee Convention was
not easy. The programs stretched four days plus. There were
sometimes 5 events running concurrently in different locations. We
tried to give you a flavor of what was happening in this picture
albums. Our aim was to showcase people and try to go behind the
scenes. Very few pictures are "posed". Only the best photos that
conveys the "spirit" of the event is presented here. Enjoy.
(Selection, editing, compilation and then programming had been a
major task. So, please bear with us as we slowly go through the
process.)
This very colorful event is often the highlight of
any convention. This year, it was not any different. 2000+ people
wearing regional dresses carrying ceremonial umbrellas, chendas
(local drum from Kerala) and crosses and proudly displaying
Patriarchal flags was a sight to see and enjoy.
We covered the event from the beginning - the time
the churches started lining up in the parking lot. As far as
practical, we tried to cover the people aspect. Achans resting under
trees to escape from the hot sun; bishops resting under the parapet;
chenda group and the marching band displaying their talents etc. The
procession was covered from 4 vantage points - beginning point, mid
point, end point near the convention hall entrance and finally
inside the convention hall. With this extensive coverage, you got to
see some people you recognize. Thank you.
(A special thanks to the
photographers, Dr. Jacob Mathew, Dr. Kurian Mani, Baby Ouseph, Gigin
Paulose, and Robin Roy.)

Historic 25 - in
mel Qurbana
It was the first time in the history of North
America that a con celebration of the Holy Qurbana on 25 altars
simultaneously was held. The con-celebration on the main altar was
performed by HE Yeldho Mor Theethose, Archbishop and Patriarchal
Vicar of the Malankara Archdiocese in North America and HE Karim
Thirumeni, Archbishop and Patriarchal Vicar of the Syrian
Archdiocese in North America. It was indeed an unforgettable event
for all those who participated in the event.
Part 1 : Saturday

Here is a behind-the-scenes look at how the altars were set up on
late Saturday night early Sunday morning. An intimate look at the
bishops, priests, deacons and altar assistants who were part of the
25 in-mel qurbana as they get ready to go for the qurbana in a
colorful procession wearing kappa and official garments.
