**We are hoping to contact each team before the conference to give
more details**
Please note: The time is officially from 9:30 AM-10:45 AM; so some
of the individual times will change.
How the Game is Played
Setup/Roll Call/Division of Groups:
9:30 AM – 9:45 AM
1. All team members of each participating team must meet at Room (To
be updated) at 9:15AM EST. If all 4 members are not in attendance,
the team will be disqualified at 9:30AM EST during roll call. The
teams that registered online for this event will be the only ones to
participate. No new teams will be accepted on-site.
2. Each team upon arrival will draw a number from a lot. This number
will either be 1 or 2, which will determine if the team will play in
Room 1 or Room 2.
3. Overview of the rules of the game, move to assigned room. (Note:
The Bible Trivia Team will conduct a teleconference with all teams
in which detailed rules will be explained. Please make every effort
to attend this informative meeting to help you prepare to win this
competition). Fr. Bijo Mathew will be forwarding the information for
this meeting once it is setup and contacts from each team have been
confirmed and received.
Round 1: Lightening Round:
9:50 AM – 10:10 AM
6 teams to 3 teams
1. Each team upon entering the assigned room (1 or 2) will draw a
number from a lot. This number will determine the order in which the
teams will play within each room.
2. Each team of 4 participants will stand in a single file relay
line (one person behind the other).
3. The host will ask each person at the front of the line a question
in the order the teams were drawn. Once the person has answered,
he/she will move to the back of the line. Then the host will move on
to the next team and ask a question. This process will continue
until each of the 4 people on the team answers at least one question
(maximum time allotted for this round is 10 minutes). The time
keeper/score keeper will inform the host of timing to ensure all
participants receive the opportunity to answer.
4. Once the teams have completed the round, the scores will be
tallied, the top 3 teams will advance to Round 2. The bottom 3 teams
will be eliminated.
Round 2: Round Robin:
10:15 AM – 10:30 AM
3 teams to 1 team
1. The 3 top performing teams will draw a number which will
determine the order in which the round will be played.
2. During the team’s turn, the team will select a question number
between 1 – 100.
3. The host will read the question corresponding to the number the
team has selected. The questions are in random order and the number
of the question does not indicate difficulty. Difficulty of question
will be based on the randomization of the spreadsheet (which is
automated by a computer – unknown to host).
4. Each question will be worth 5 points. Once the question is read
completely, the team will have 10 seconds to discuss with the team
and a designated team captain will announce the answer. If the
answer is incorrect, ZERO points will be assigned, a correct answer
will receive 5 points. (A missed question will not be offered to a
subsequent team for partial points – the question will be thrown out
– no partial points/credit will be given to any teams).
5. The teams will continue to play the round for 10 minutes. Upon
completion of the time limit, the team with the highest score will
move to Round 3.
Round 3: Jeopardy
10:30 AM – 10:45 AM
1 winning team from each room
1. The top team from each room will advance to the Jeopardy Round.
2. The 2 teams will draw a number which will determine the order the
2 teams will play.
3. The game will have 4 categories (Old Testament, New Testament,
Church History, and Sacraments) in the value of 100, 200, 300, 400,
500 points. (Note: Point value signifies level of difficulty i.e.
100 is the easiest and 500 is the hardest question).
4. The team will select a category and a point value.
5. The host will ask the question that corresponds to the category
and point value.
6. The team will have 15 seconds to discuss and a designated team
captain will announce the answer. The round will continue until all
questions are answered or time has reached 20 minutes. Once a
question is missed (incorrect) it is thrown out. No question will be
offered for partial credit. Points will not be deducted for an
incorrect answer.
7. Upon completion of the round, each team will receive their score
& proceed to Round 4.
Round 4: Final Jeopardy:
10:45 AM – 10:55 AM
2 teams to WINNER
1. Each team will select a wager between 0 and the maximum number of
points accrued from the Jeopardy Round and submit to the host. If
the question is answered correctly, this wagered points will be
added to the final score or if the question is answered incorrectly
the wagered points will be deducted from the score.
2. Once wagers are received, the host will ask the final jeopardy
question. The question will be randomly selected from a test bank.
Each team will have 1 minute to discuss and write down the answer.
The answer sheet will be turned in to the host.
3. Upon review, the host will determine the winner of the game.
(Note: In the event of a tie, final Jeopardy will be repeated.
Wagers will stay the same but the host will ask a new question and
answer sheets will be submitted).
